The countdown has begun….

I know, some of you have been coming all winter!
We still plan to kick off our 12th season with a celebration! Make sure you come early,
and remember to bring your furry friends for the 9:30 Opening Day Parade!

OPENING DAY EVENTS:
9 am SPECIAL OPENING DAY CEREMONIES: A ribbon cutting with Mayor Faye
Prichard present to share the ceremony with us.

9: 30 am A DOGS OF ASHLAND OPENING DAY PARADE to announce opening day
to the town, and also honor our furry friends that make the market
even more special! Bring any Parade-worthy hats or streamers, Ashland
pride and paraphernalia, Opening day or Farmers’ Market signs you are
able to make, and of course: your favorite furry friend. Please come
be a part of the celebration! We will meet at the Market Manager’s
table at 9:25 before departing. We will have pre-made signs, as well
as some unfinished signs if you would like to make your own! (Come early!)

A RAFFLE! Test your luck, and buy a raffle ticket to win a basket of
donated items from our lovely vendors. Raffle tickets will be drawn hourly,
and all proceeds go towards the Farmers Market.

INTERNATIONAL SUNFLOWER GUERRILLA GARDENING DAY! As if Opening Day
wasn’t enough to celebrate… We will be giving out sunflower seeds for those who

NEW MUSICAL GUESTS: The Bucket Kickers, a traditional old time string band

OTHER GUESTS: VA MASTER NATURALISTS, our favorite resource when you
have a question about gardening. They have been coming to market
every first Saturday of the month for years, and will be joining us
once again this season! So, bring your questions….

ASSISTANT MANAGER! This year we will are lucky to have Trevor Buckley,
a student of sustainable agriculture at JSRCC, helping us at the Farmers’
Market. He is excited to get to know Ashland a little better, so make
sure to say hi!

FARM VOLUNTEERS wanted! Are you interested in learning more about
what it takes to grow and prepare food for a community? Well, this
may be your chance to learn more of what it takes to get the job done!
You will be connected with a grower who needs your help, and leave
with produce in exchange. Each of our vendors have a world of
knowledge to share, and can always use an extra set of hands!!
