The 2008 Olympics, the global recession, and the anniversary of the demonstrations at Tiananmen Square keep China in U.S. news. But China is not well understood by many Americans and its name may stir in us a subtle foreboding and sense of mystery. Join Dr. Thomas Porter of Randolph-Macon College’s Department of History for his unique perspective on China’s contemporary history.
