3rd Annual Afternoon Tea

Hilliard House and the Ladies of Ashland Present the 3rd Annual Afternoon Tea on Sunday, May 2, 2010.  

From the same “ladies” who bring you the hugely successful Deck The Halls event in December, we bring you  “An authentic English  Tea, featuring “Fashions of the 50’s/Famous TV  Shows.”  Our “alternative” fashion show has been a critically acclaimed  success, a “showstopper; not-to-be-missed”. This is a gorgeous, spectacular event, held in the historic Hanover Arts & Activities Center on the tracks in Ashland. Our exceptional volunteers transform the building into a high-end “English’ tea room filled with flowers, linens, china and silver to reflect teas-of-years-past. Patrick Henry High School “Spring Fling” – Sat, April 17

This Saturday, April 17 from 11:00am – 5:00pm, rain or shine.  No pets allowed.  Come Out and Join the Fun as a Vendor, Community Member, Student, or Alumni.  Craft Vendors, Food, Inflatables, Musical Entertainment, Greenhouse Spring Plant Sale, Patrick Henry 50th Anniversary Merchandise.

“Chalk Walk” Event May 15

Chalk WalkThe Ashland Main Street Association, in cooperation with Ashland artists and local businesses, will sponsor its first Sidewalk “Chalk Art” event on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  This event will take place at The Plaza in front of the Ashland Library, prior to the first 2010 event sponsored by Ashland Street Parties, Inc., which begins at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Spring Bazaar and Music Festival – Sat, April 17

Spring Bazaar and Music Festival to benefit the Wickham S.O.S. organization.  This group is raising funds to move and renovate the Old Wickham School building.

 ACTIVITIES – Craft Sale, Yard Sale and Silent Auction (Reserve a table for $10.00 by 4/15 call 798-6584)

FOOD – Lunch will be on sale starting at 11:30 AM

MUSIC – Henry Patterson, Jr., Brown Grove Men’s Choir, Greenwood Men’s Choir, Mt. Carmel Inspirational Choir

All proceeds will go to the Wickham S.O.S. to pay for moving the building and for restoration.

Ashland Firehouse Theater presents “Stagecoach”

April 10, 2010 at 7:30 pm (Series I)

The John Ford classic.  A simple stagecoach trip is complicated by the fact that Geronimo is on the warpath in the area. The passengers on the coach include a a drunken doctor, two women, a bank manager who has taken off with his client’s money, and the famous Ringo Kid, played by none other than John Wayne. Matinee at The Ashland Firehouse Theater

 

This Saturday, April 10th at 3PM at the Ashland Firehouse Theater (map).  E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 American science fiction film co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Melissa Mathison and starring Henry Thomas, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore, and Dee Wallace. It tells the story of Elliott (played by Thomas), a lonely boy who befriends a friendly extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.”, who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help the extraterrestrial return home while attempting to keep it hidden from their mother and the government.

32nd Annual Ashland Railroad Run

We’re Green Again in 2010.  On race day (Saturday, April 10, 2010), in addition to the 32nd running of the Ashland Railroad Run (certified 10K, 5K walk and kids 1-mile fun run), we will have a GREEN Fair with (at last count) 28 green vendors who can show us how to buy locally and eat fresh; we can also learn about llamas, visit a petting zoo, see how solar power works first hand, and MUCH more.  More »

Rose Chen to speak at the Hanover Academy

Rose Chen, Founder of the Rose Group for Cross cultural understanding. (www.therosegroup.org) will be speaking at Hanover Academy on April 27th at 3:30pm..

Professor Irby Brown emeritus, of UR will introduce her.

Irish Step Dance Performance AND a Movie!

This coming Saturday, March 27, is a special event for the Firehouse Theater. It’s “Irish” night, even if a week or so late! 

We will have about ten dancers from the An Cor Rud School of Irish Step Dance giving a performance at 7:30 PM. These young women have been dancing for several years and some have international experience. It will be a delightful show. More »
